“The story has so many interesting archetypes, starting with the young innocent who goes off into the forest and finally encounters the wolf,” Megan says. “We wanted to play with all of the ideas.”. “It’s not inappropriate for children, but it’s not the ‘Velveteen Rabbit,’ either,” Shannon adds. “We both love folk and fairy tales, and it’s our own exploration of the forest, fear of the unknown, what it means to be safe and innocent and to venture into the dark woods.
